I first visited Brisbane in 98, as part of an educational back-packing journey that lasted nearly two years, before I emigrated back there to live in 2006. Over the following 18 years that I spent living in, and visiting Brisbane I saw a lot of positive changes. The cultural precinct on the South Bank continued to grow, the business district developed drastically and the education sector in the city now competes with any of Australia's major cities. The Brisbane river is at the heart of the city, surrounded by beautiful city gardens, rock faces and bike tracks.
Architecture is a record of the changes that a city landscape goes through, I worked on a lot of sites over the years including the extensive tunnel infrastructure, one of the major high rise developments at 111 Eagle street, and the new bridge build. The town is re-inventing itself as the business capital of Australia, whilst still holding onto some of its country town charm.
